This is the first one of a series of “Divine Villanelles” that I will continue to write & hopefully publish in a book.
I thought about sharing the first with you here on my blog.
I hope they reach out to you out there.
Thanks for reading & support always!
Divine Villanelle I
I've sought you through & through the earth & sky;
I have looked as much as I have done no deed.
Perhaps it's not yourself I seek, but I.
I call you myriad times without a sole reply;
I've longed for you to quench my every need.
I've sought you through & through the earth & sky.
I wanted long through life to come to die.
Perhaps if I did, I'd have no life to lead.
Perhaps it's not yourself I seek, but I.
Perhaps, unknowing where to seek was why
you never answer no matter how I plead.
I've sought you through & through the earth & sky.
& as I've marched, I've realized the way was I;
How, then, could I ever falter or stampede.
Perhaps it's not yourself I seek, but I.
If we would ever meet, we'd see eye to eye.
If so, the self in you, within myself, I'd have to heed,
For I've sought you through & through the earth & sky,
Perhaps it's not yourself I seek, but I.
