Letter XI

I spoke about you to the youthful summer hymns,
& to the ancient wrecking winter winds.
I spoke of Love unknown.
As I speak you, now.
I spoke of a heart untorn.
As I share mine, now;
Two hearts — as one.
Forever, unspoken of, unseen, unheard of, undone.
Until, you mark the perfection of our heart.
The day we meet, & never to part.
One heart where faith & freedom may meet.
One heart where our Love will revive.
A once-more-born tree of Life.

One heart of us, One Love I speak of,
To the eyes of the lovers,
& to the enemies’ ears
to the wounds, to the hopes, to the pains, to the fears,
to my sighs & your tears,
to the flames & the rains,
to the woods & the plains,
& the fields & the grains,
to the worlds inside each of you & me,
to the hurricanes of our stress,
& the storms of our mess.
To those, I speak,
For no one knows that I know.
That I heed all your words. Yet, not show.
That I feel,
That I reel!
Once, I find your Love I seek,
Over throwing — overruling my heart
Because as Love wins & I lose, I win.
As you conquered & I’m conquered, I rule.
Be my Love, a virtue or a sin.
Or may I be wise or fool.
A love that makes us two in One;
One heart where faith & freedom may meet.
One heart where our Love will revive.
A once-more-born tree of Life.
